A full-time position will split time between three attorneys. If part-time, the morning position will assist a primarily family law and bankruptcy attorney and the afternoon position will assist a primarily personal injury attorney. Both positions will, at times, assist the primarily criminal defense attorney. The schedule can be flexible for the right candidate. The recumbent(s) may spend time alone in the office, therefore, we hope to find applicants who need limited training - training about the specifics of our office functions, but not lessons on how to perform clerical and/or secretarial work in general. We are a small office, so there are often random duties to keep things running smoothly.

Duties include: answering all incoming telephone calls and walk-ins; assisting client needs; drafting letters; opening, reviewing, and routing incoming mail; scheduling appointments, court hearings, depositions, etc.; drafting pleadings; running errands as needed; tracking incoming payments; scanning closed files; following-up on delegated assignments; knowing when to act and when to refer to the attorney.

Must be professional, dependable, able to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently without constant supervision. Candidate must be able to provide a level of focus and attention to detail to keep documents and scheduling error-free. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people. Our office is extremely busy, so candidate(s) should be able to handle stress while maintaining composure; a “thick-skin” is important. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is a must. Will spend a significant amount of time on the computer and telephone. Must type a minimum of 45 wpm. Confidentiality is required! Experience as a secretary, office or administrative assistant, or other similar clerical position is required. Experience in a legal setting is not required, but is highly preferred. We are willing to train the right person with basic secretarial skills. Please send a resume with a cover letter telling us about your experience and which position you are interested in - full-time or part-time (morning or afternoon) – to No phone calls, please! Resumes without cover letters will not be reviewed. Salary commensurate with experience.
