Will plan and implement various fundraising activities. Responsibilities The Development Officer will perform a variety of complex activities surrounding those donor prospects with a high capacity to help Huntsman Cancer Foundation achieve its institutional advancement goals and objectives. These will include: Research gift capacity and match between donor gift criteria and Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). Cultivate donor prospects. Coordinate development outreach activities to major donors. Coordinate proposal activity for individual, corporate and foundations. Write fund proposals. Research and work with providers with the grateful patient program. Assist in the planning, implementing and managing of annual fundraising events. Assist in the planning, implementing and managing of donor stewardship activities. Conduct tours of HCI and its hospital and research facilities. Work with vendors to ensure the campaign deadlines, donor events and donor recognition goals are met. Create regular reports to demonstrate accountability to donors. Contribute to newsletter content. Contribute to website content. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, or a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four years of experience in high-end repeat sales or direct fund-raising required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills also required. Fund-raising or repeat sales experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully establish long term relationships with high-end customers is preferred. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. Preferences Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. 5+ years of experience, knowledge of the not-for-profit work setting and its valued systems preferred. Experience in leading and assisting in the delivery of special events management oriented to seeking and stewarding gifts preferred. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge and its core competencies in biographic, analytic, query, and gift functions.
