SrvsLocation: CampusCity: Salt Lake City, UTPay Rate Range: 12.02 to 21.63Open Until Filled: YesJob Summary This position serves on a small team of University Information Technology Network and Communications Infrastructure (NCI) technical advisers for the University community regarding telephony services (including VoIP), electronic messaging, teleconferencing, calendaring, and cloud storage resources. Located in Salt Lake City, in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains, the University of Utah is the flagship institution of the State of Utah's system of higher education and a member of the PAC-12 Conference. University Information Technology, the central IT service provider for campus, reports to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for many of the University of Utah's most critical common IT resources including the campus network; the Campus Information Services (CIS) portal; UMail, telephone, and online collaboration services; high performance and research computing; information security; teaching and learning technologies; software licensing; and a host of other systems and applications. For more information about UIT visit Responsibilities Essential Functions Reviews, analyzes, implements and modifies configurations and setup of several Unified Communications systems Advises and assists campus and hospital departments with telephony services (including VoIP), electronic messaging, teleconferencing, calendaring and cloud storage resources that meet their business requirements in the most economical and efficient method Determines whether infrastructure and inventory are available to meet needs Performs support for functional areas, including but not limited to configuration, scheduling, and project coordination for telephone equipment, video and audio conferencing, and room resources; configuration of voice mail and collaboration systems; and coordination of building wiring or fiber installation, if necessary Processes incoming change requests from campus and hospital departments, generates daily work orders involving changes to call treatments and user configurations, and coordinates scheduled work with UIT resources and appropriate outside vendors if necessary Acts as customer support by troubleshooting and correcting problems with telephony systems programming, voice mail, video and audio conferencing, and resource rooms. Minimum Qualifications Two years experience in telecommunications or a related field, or equivalency; demonstrated written and oral communications skills; the ability to work with all levels of personnel; a commitment to service excellence; and have demonstrated customer service skills also required. Experience working with computer based ordering and accounting systems is preferred.
