Manages all aspects of advising functions for prospective, new, continuing, and transfer students in all phases of their department based academic program and establishes a relationship of respect, trust, and openness as well as monitors all majors in their academic progress. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree plus one year of experience related to Summary of Duties totaling five years. Knowledge Knowledge of student advising and techniques including content, curriculum, and graduation requirements specific to the academic major, department or school. Knowledge of and commitment to UVU's mission, strategic directions, and communities of engaged learners. Skills Skills in computers, computer terminals, and academic and office software platforms ( BANNER ) as applied to management of student records, report preparation, and related activities. Abilities Ability to anticipate department and student needs. Ability to creatively and independently solve problems by prioritizing and multitasking while under pressure. Ability to serve individuals with diverse personalities through the use of effective interpersonal communication skills using various communication media including telephone, facsimile and email.
