The Management Information Systems (MIS) Department in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track MIS Assistant Professor faculty position beginning Fall of 2018. For this position, the MIS department seeks an outstanding researcher with a strong teaching portfolio who will contribute to the research, teaching, and service needs of the department in its pursuit of excellence. Reporting to the MIS Department Head, the successful candidate will conduct leading MIS research and teach state-of-the-art technologies salient to organizations worldwide. Particular attention will be placed on individuals with the potential to publish in top MIS journals and Business Intelligence/Data Analytics journals and recognized for innovative teaching methodologies. The standard teaching load for an academic year will be four (2+2) courses.

✔ Develop a nationally recognized research program reflecting notable contributions to MIS that are published in top MIS journals and top Business Intelligence/Data Analytics journals.
✔ Produce a steady and consistent stream of peer-reviewed journal publications emerging from a scientifically rigorous and innovative research program, which contributes to professional growth and development as well as the mission and goals of the Huntsman School and the MIS Department.
✔ Teach MIS undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned by the department head.
✔ Develop and articulating a solid teaching philosophy that is consistent with excellence in MIS teaching, advising, and mentoring.
✔ Actively participate in undergraduate and graduate curricula development activities and the continuous assessment and improvement processes of the Huntsman School of Business and the MIS Department's accredited curricula.
✔ Serve on departmental, college, and university committees and organizations, as well as professional societies in the candidate’s field of expertise.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:
✔ PhD in MIS or related field from a prominent and AACSB-accredited university
✔ Highly effective communication skills, including listening, writing, and speaking
✔ Demonstration of collegiality among peers and constituents
✔ Ability to convey research findings to practitioner audiences
✔ Ability to develop international scholarly reputation
✔ Ability to mentor and/or collaborate with students and/or colleagues on research projects
✔ Demonstrated excellence in teaching. May be demonstrated in ways such as the following:
* Experience teaching at undergraduate and Master's levels with above average teaching evaluations
* Evidence of innovation in the classroom
* Ability to direct student projects
✔ Demonstrated effectiveness in service:
* Reviewing and/or editorial responsibilities for quality journals, AIS-sponsored conferences and ACM-sponsored conferences (e.g., KDD, DSI)
* Ability to provide external leadership (e.g., officer in professional organizations, center director) at appropriate time in career
* Ability to provide internal leadership at university, college, and department levels at appropriate time in career

Preferred Qualifications:
✔ Expertise in the areas of data science and/or programming is desirable
✔ Ability to attract undergraduate and graduate students to the MIS major and to mentor them toward the successful completion of their degree
