I. POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Risk Reduction and Patient Safety is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the hospital’s Risk Management and Patient Safety functions. Ensures that risk and safety issues are identified and managed in order to promote patient safety and reduce institutional liability. Manages collection of aggregate data from adverse event reports, claims and loss prevention strategies, for identification of corrective and preventive actions. Conducts investigation of sentinel events, root cause analyses and peer review. Directs and participates in development of process improvements that will support the reduction of medical/health errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes.
