Job Description

The Urban Land Institute – a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating healthy, thriving communities – is seeking a full-time Manager to guide and support the growth and development of the Utah District Council (ULI Utah).

The ULI Utah Manager administers all aspects of coordinating programs and events; develops and implements marketing and communications strategies to support member and sponsor engagement, with an emphasis on recruiting new members and sponsors; supports multiple volunteer committees; publicly represents the District Council as needed; coordinates between ULI Utah and ULI’s home office; and works closely with ULI Utah’s chair and management committee to achieve the goals and objectives of the District Council.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages, in close coordination with the District Council Chair and management committee
members, the planning and implementation of the District Council’s program of work,
including:
o Programs and events throughout the region focused on, among other subjects, real estate
trends, sustainability, smart growth, housing, infrastructure, and financing
o Young Leaders Group programs and events
o Member engagement and recruitment
o Sponsor engagement and recruitment
o Technical Advisory Panels
o Public relations
o Various District Council initiatives, including partnerships with other organizations
o District Council financial and tracking reports
• Manages multiple volunteer committees to develop and meet goals and objectives for
events/programs, community outreach, membership, sponsorship, and
management/finance.
• Responsible for coordinating small and large networking and educational programs/events.
• Oversees all logistics for securing speakers, venues, vendors, onsite staffing, handling
transportation, print and digital marketing collateral, photography, A/V, signage, and
insurance, etc., for programs and events.
• Oversees all budgets and track expenses and revenues for the District Council and by
programs, events, solicitations, etc.
• Handles all related financial and administrative tasks.
• Develops and maintains program calendar.
• Manages, creates and/or updates all marketing and communications for the District Council.
Including, but not limited to, the local District Council website, newsletters, membership
directories, and press releases.
• Takes and distributes minutes of all District Council executive committee and committee
meetings.

In addition to the above responsibilities, the Manager will assist with the coordination of other District Council responsibilities related to staffing committees; participating in strategic planning sessions; and creating budgets and recertification plans for yearly review. The Manager will also develop and maintain relationships with local nonprofits, public agencies, community leaders, local universities and other related professional groups.

Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
5+ years of experience in events planning, non-profit management or a related field.
BA degree strongly desired. Degree or other experience in urban planning, public administration, local real estate development or land use issues a plus, but not required.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Photoshop or graphic design skills and website/social media management a plus.
Professional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to work with senior business, community and public sector executives and leaders.
 Experience working with and managing busy professionals who volunteers their time on behalf of ULI.
Ability to prioritize tasks, and to handle multiple tasks concurrently and completely, with responsible follow-through.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Use of personal vehicle is required for local travel.
Use of a home office or other office space is required; ULI Utah does not have permanent office space.
Some out of state travel may be required for conferences and training.

COMPENSATION:
$45,000 annual salary, plus generous benefits.
