 Job ID: 107892 Staker Parson Companies, is a member of the Oldcastle Materials West Division; Our purpose, commitment to the future, and formula for growth is to champion the safety, empowerment, and development of our employees. We strive to be The Preferred Source of quality sand, rock, landscape products, ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, paving and construction services. We succeed as a team by embracing integrity, mutual respect, innovation, service, sustainability, and financial strength.                                                               Position Title:Estimating ManagerPipeline Level: Reports To:Construction ManagerFLSA Status:ExemptDirect Reports:Estimators / Project ManagersDepartment/Division:ConstructionPrepared Date: Last Revised Date:March 2017 Position Overview This is a skilled position as an experienced Estimating Manager involving the final review and submission of quantity estimates using material, labor and overhead costs and management of projects that are awarded to the company. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Identify, analyze and maximize bidding opportunities within geographical market while aligning estimating resources towards successful bidding.Allocate estimating personnel resources considering workload of staff and experience to maximize successful bid opportunity.Maintain a current market awareness of pricing and backlog.Develop and maintain system to ensure actual field conditions are considered, reflected and used in the bidding process – i.e., active participation in post mortems.Ensure quantities, scope(s), specification considerations are accurate in all estimates prior to bid submission.Champion DBE (minority) requirements, law, specifications as required.Build estimating capabilities through leadership of estimating staff – build senior estimators.Assist during design build pursuits.Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documents to prepare time, material, equipment, production and labor estimates.Review estimates for planning purposes and detailed estimates based on final plans and specifications.Consult with clients, vendors and others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.Maintain current and accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact and written materials.Manage the preparation of bid packages, estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids for projects of any size and complexity.Ensure estimating staff is checking daily cost for correctness, compliance with estimated cost, and if over budget ensure the follow through for corrective action.Participate in project Hand-Offs where necessary and beneficial with designated project team.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disability to perform the essential functions.Education/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other related field is a plus.A minimum of 10 years construction estimating experience is preferred with; or an equivalent of education and experience will be accepted Work RequirementsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. . Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.   Key CompetenciesCustomer Service - Manages difficult or emotional employee situations;
