Timpanogos Regional is looking for an Unit Clerk to join our Float Pool team! Unit Secretary- Float Pool: Provides secretarial support in the medical surgical, pediatric, 6 bed observation and ICU/CCU department setting. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Uses basic computer skills/knowledge and medical terminology to promote unit function. Prepares and compiles records in the specified Department. Acts under the direction of physician and nursing staff. May need to monitor cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac screen or telemetry monitors in the ICU/CCU and Pediatrics. Participates in performance improvement activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, hospital policies, procedures and standards. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Has primary responsibility for the open medical record and keeps record orderly and accurate. On admit, creates the patient record by assembling forms in correct order, checking to make sure each form is present. At discharge, compile patient record in universal format, date and sign check off list and send record to HIM. Responsibility to have patient accurately in the system as an outpatient observation, outpatient in a bed, or an inpatient admit. Orders and stocks nurse stations, nourishment room, specialty carts, and patient rooms. Enters physician’s orders in the computer system, in a timely and accurate manner. Logs all patients in the logbooks and in computer upon admission, transfer, discharge, or other. Able to access physicians and staff through the use of call-back lists, paging system, telephone, etc. Fosters communication between multiple disciplines on behalf of the patient and/or for the patient’s needs. Organizes the unit as a whole, keeping nurses’ station and adjacent areas neat, clean and orderly. Files reports (lab work, x-rays, etc.) from the computer after the nurses have reviewed the results. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. Answers the telephone/intercom in a timely and polite manner. Then communicates that information to the appropriate personnel/family. Maintains refrigerator temperature logs. Other assigned duties as needed.
