Engineer Sr : Turbines, Salt Lake City, UT
Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer to join our workforce in our Salt Lake City, Utah location. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide engineering and technical expertise on centrifugal compressors and turbine drivers for optimal equipment performance, environmental compliance, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, repairs, and maintenance planning for our operating fleet. This role also supports operations and gas control to troubleshoot compression performance issues.
-Maintain in:depth understanding of equipment and apply problem solving techniques to identify and correct equipment problems or inefficiencies.
-Gather and analyze unit performance and past history data; develop recommendations for improving performance and reliability (data mining).
-Lead or participate in equipment root cause failure analysis (RCA) investigations for equipment with catastrophic or premature failures -Help develop overhaul and repair recommendations and budgets for supported areas.
-Perform engine/compressor performance calculations and analysis -Develop and maintain relationships with Engineering, Tactical projects, and operations to assist them on their projects, while also learning from them.
-Research environmental permit requirements and equipment specifications and determine compliance -Be aware of business and industry trends and direction in the technical advances that can be brought to bear in equipment design to create a competitive advantage -Work with Operations, Facility Planners, and other SME's to determine the health of critical equipment to insure that we are operating reliably, efficient, and in a safe manner while maintaining the availability of our equipment.
-Work with E and C to review and comment on drawings, scopes, and proposals. Participate in factory acceptance tests, drawing reviews, and some commissioning activities -Work with the Rotating Equipment team to maintain equipment operating procedures.
-Maintain equipment purchase specifications along with design and installation standards.
-Insure key contractors and vendors are working to meet Williams equipment needs and operational goals.
-Review compressor vendor surge/recycle /fast stop valve sizing and confirm or revise the recommendations.
-Support Facility Planners in review of compressor design parameters used in the hydraulic models and troubleshoot compressor modeling problems. Provide Facility Planners with up to date centrifugal CSV files for use in their modeling of current and planned compression facilities.
-Gather and evaluate installed reciprocating and centrifugal compressor additions, modifications, or replacements using historic data to ensure project goals and vendor guarantees were met. Develop recommendations for improving performance as needed.
-Maintain data base for all compressor packages along Northwest Pipeline's system. Data includes compressor size and type, drive type and horsepower, aero map/compressor cylinder data sheets, gearbox type and operating maps (if applicable) and included surge/fast stop valve information.
